This is me!
Hey, I’m Samantha – a fine art wedding photographer based in New York City. I was born in Chicago to a Guatemalan and Salvadoran family, and later married a wonderful designer from Michigan…while NYC is home, our midwest roots run deep!
I’m an artist through and through. My photographic journey began at 18 years old, when my father gave me his old Minolta film camera. I adore wedding photography, but when I’m not busy shooting, my days are spent sculpting, painting, reading or wandering through galleries!
A Few Fun Facts
- Latina photographer here! I’m a first-generation American and I lived in Guatemala for most of my elementary school years. My roots are Guatemalan and El Salvadoran!
- I LOVE when clients bring their pets to shoots. So if you’re wondering whether your furry friend can accompany you, please know that they’re very welcome whenever I’m behind the camera!
- When I’m not busy creating editorial wedding photography in New York, I like to travel as much as possible. I’m always open to recommendations (especially the food and adventure kind!), so if you have any wisdom you’d like to share, I’ve got two ears ready to listen.
- My husband and I both enjoy sport climbing and love to spend as much time as possible outdoors. Every Thanksgiving (which also happens to be our anniversary!), we hit the road for our annual climbing trip to Kentucky’s Red River Gorge.

“Samantha Ruby Photography truly made our day! I recently got my wedding photos back after only a few weeks from the event and… WOW. They’re stunning in a way I could not have imagined. Samantha took time to understand our vibe, what we hoped to get out of our photos and she delivered above and beyond. On top of being a gifted photographer, she made me feel comfortable and relaxed in front of the camera. She was the backbone of our wedding day running smoothly. THANK YOU again Ruby Photography! You killed it”
